About the Company

Evident is a research company that specialises in the measurement of AI and other emerging technologies. We are getting under the hood of how the biggest companies in the world are using and adopting AI, by measuring their AI capabilities better than ever before.

Our new index, The Evident AI Index, will be the first ever public ranking of individual companies on their AI maturity. Our mission is to accelerate AI adoption by radically increasing transparency of how the biggest companies in the world are developing and deploying AI.

Founded in April 2022, our team is led by our Co-Founders Alexandra Mousavizadeh and Annabel Ayles, who have previously built an index business focused on measuring national AI capabilities.

We are backed by leading investors such as Venrex (early backer of Charlotte Tilbury, ME&EM, and Revolut) and DCVC (deep tech investor), and tech commentators including Scott Galloway (Pivot podcast). We are currently a team of 10 people; gearing up to public launch in February; and have plans to be a team of 25 by the end of 2023.

About the Role

Our team is currently made up of Data Scientists and Engineers, but as we prepare to scale up our commercial operations, we are looking for a highly organised and motivated Head of Operations to own the end-to-end business operations. The ideal candidate has led an operations team at a fast-growing start-up, and is excited about our mission to drive global transparency around AI.


Take ownership of the day-to-day business operations.

This includes:

Establishing key company planning processes, including OKR setting, budgeting & reporting.

This might include cash flow tracking, revenue projections and costs (with external accountants).

Establish key company processes: hiring, recruitment, onboarding.

Company policies and culture.

Office sourcing and set-up.

Building and managing the Operations team.

Legals: statements of work and master service agreements.

Establishing employee option plan.

Investor management: EIS Assurance, Board etc.

Managing the hiring and recruitment of key talent in 2023, including interviewing and onboarding.


Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ work experience, ideally with a background in Operations role in a fast-growing tech-related start-up or strategy consulting

  • You know what great operations and culture looks like, and are keen to set that up in a new start-up

  • Excellent written and verbal communication: the ability to communicate concisely and effectively with stakeholders, internally and externally

  • Highly organised, able to handle multiple projects in parallel

  • Proactive: you take ownership without being asked

  • Comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting into whatever needs doing most

  • High emotional intelligence: can work with anyone, from creative to engineering

  • Work-ready English language and right to work in the UK
